Someone stole my Romeo
So I've been waiting and waiting to hear back from the Union Church to see if I can have a dog. This morning I finally got word that I can have one...so I was estatic! Even though I fell in love with Romeo, I just decided to check the classifieds to see what else was available. First call was for a Peekapoo. They're cute and they don't shed...maybe I could grow to love one as much as I love Romeo. But wait, it's a toy peekapoo...it will only grow to be about 7 inches. If I take that dog out running, I may accidentally step on it....not a good idea. Second call...poodle mix...5 months and very cheap. But wait! They were all taken. That was pretty much all for the classifieds. No problem...I'll just get Romeo today. I go up to my apartment to get ready. Then I get a phone call from the office. One of my students wants to give me a dog. At this point my heart is set on Romeo...what do I say? I ask her what type of dog it is. Her reply, "It's a normal dog." (Basically it's like every other dog...a big mutt that sheds) Don't get me wrong, I think mutts can be cute...my family even has one at home. However, I hate having to change everytime I pet the dog because my clothes become all hairy. I just thanked my student for the gift and explained that I need a much smaller dog because a big dog is not good in an apartment and it would cost too much to take back to the States. What a great gift though! So now...bring on Romeo!!!! But before traveling to the pet store, I decided to call. WHAT?!!!!!! He was sold 2 days ago???? Now I want to cry. So shortly after, I sadly left the mission office to go get HIV tested with Jaime and Thomas. In order to stay here after 3 months, I need to be tested and free of HIV. And by the way...in case you were wonder...no, I don't have HIV. What a relief...hahaha. About 1/2 hour later, we found another pet store. Guess what? There were 2 puppies I could have easily have bought...a Bichon Frise and a West Highland White Terrier. "You want $1000 for one of these dogs?!" That's crazy talk. So needless to say...guess who doesn't have a puppy yet? That's right....me. So I'm really sad about this. For the past few hours I've been feeling a little lonely and homesick I don't know why it's so hard to find a little puppy here. In other news...not related to my missing Romeo... Yesterday was Izenith's 23rd birthday. After my Enlish class last night, I went to Izenith's house to spend some time with her family. I may not have a dog, but I have a 3 year old little boy (Lenny) who has a little crush on me. Since I'm in Latin America, it's not a party unless people are dancing for hours. I love dancing salsa. But it was funny because each time I would dance with someone, Lenny (who's a lover of dance himself), would break up the dancing by pushing us apart and yelling "NO!" Lenny was a little jealous...especially of his 5 year old cousin Toby, who I also danced with. PRAISE.... Izenith has been coming to church every Sunday for 4 weeks now. The day that I traveled to Colon for church, Izenith still came and brought a friend! Please continue to pray for her and her family!

Isen is jealous of Lenny. Isen says that Lenny needs to back off, or in his words, "go away!"
